Honestly I've had a pretty good experience with them -- not to invalidate other folks' bad ones, just sharing my own. I've rented a LOT of homes, and have been pretty happy here.
I had some issues early on related to accessing my mail, but in their defense they had just moved to a new office and it seemed really chaotic. Maintenance requests have been quick and competent, and I'm paying a really good price for where I'm at. Also, I've found that they're really personable and forgiving if I need to ask for an extension on my payments, which during COVID has been a huge lifesaver. Not saying this is or will be the case for everyone, but I do really appreciate it, and it's more compassion than I've been extended from other rental companies.
Again, I can only speak for myself here. But by and large my experience with Fairfax has been a positive one.

Rarely can you get anyone to answer the phone. They take applications fees for listings that are posted as available, until you apply and then told not on the market. I'm not sure how they can have listings posted as available on various sites and keep your fee when you apply and tell you it's not on the market. I would just avoid them completely.

As an owner Fairfax has taken good care of my properties, shown attention to detail, have helped and encouraged me in giving housing assistance through agencies like housing for new hope.

This company is a scam. They miss appointments, do not answer the phone, do not schedule or manage listings properly. They will happily take your application fee knowing the property is already leased out. Do yourself a favor - trust the consistency of reviews here (wish we had!) and lease elsewhere for amenities and better customer service. The prices are lower for a reason. There are tons of apartment specials out there due to covid, that will bring the price down on most other places to be just as low as their listings. Not worth the headache, time or money wasted.

Between my fiancé and I who are trying to rent a house with this company, we have received one response to seven emails. Of the nearly 20 times that we have called, they have picked up once, called back once, and left no voicemails. We’ve already put in an application and paid both of our separate application fees, why haven’t we heard back? You would think they would want our money fast! I’m really disappointed to say it seems like we won’t be able to rent with Fairfax.
