I don't know why this company has such bad reviews. I leased from them during my first year in Durham, and generally had a decent experience. They are property managers, not owners. The price was very fair for the neighborhood. The house is old and had a lot of problems, but nothing that was easily fixable (like sinking floors). In general, they were very responsive. A couple issues: when I moved in the toilet was still in the bathtub, which was not cool. Also the place was very dirty when I moved in, hadn't been cleaned in at least months. And the wall-unit furnace wasn't attached. Getting the heater attached and the gas on took the longest – about 2 months, for some reason. But usually when I called things got fixed the next day. I got my full security deposit back. One other odd thing: because they're property managers, it's the tenant's responsibility to show the property to prospective tenants, which is weird. Why is it my job to show off their property? Anyway, pretty average for renter in this area, I think.
I rented from Southeast for 3 1/2 years beginning Sept. 2000, there were good. I went back to rent to them in May of this year and they have been awful. The apartment I rent doesn't have onsite management, I have called and spoken with Dave about sending out a letter to tenants about garbage...no letter in over 1 month. The lady at the front is airy, I drop my check or MO off and 'she' ask me of what apartment I live in. After I had to explain to her that you have the system in front of you...check it. I am not rushing time but April 1 I will be packing. They are economical though and I agree they are not OWNERS but the part that they play is mediocre at best.
I rent at there 2bedroom 1 bathroom duplex off Roxoboro rd. The maintenance man shot nails into two of my vehicles and enter my home without permission. They never fix anything. The woman at front desk are rude as hell. Do NOT rent with them. They have lower ratings then Rick Soles!! Slow water flow. Whole in leaking sink in kitchen..took 4 months for new fridge and 10 months for stove. We aren't renewing our lease and regret the choice to move here. Please, dont make the same mistake. If you have a contract with this company or are considering it please remove yourself or the thought. This company will be out of business soon. No customer service at all. No respect. No benefit.
My experience living here was terrible I was locked out my house couldn’t get in no one comes when something is broke they come on they own time! The ladies at the front office are rude and the manager the tall skinny man he is careless about any problems you bring about your apartment I would suggest anyone to come here I still have a leak under my sink and my tub constantly is stopped up the worst part over summer the temperature in my house was almost 100 degrees because the air was broke took months for anyone to come fix it! Finally when they came to fix my air they had to put a big hole in my wall so now I don’t have a bathroom closet it’s just ridiculous.
I wish there was an option for NO STARS! Dave is very unprofessional, rude and ignorant. He discusses personal family and financial information with other tenants (complete strangers). The maintenance guy enters the apartments without prior notice/approval. The apartment's electrical system is outdated and hazardous. Some of the apartments are roach infested and they DO NOT exterminate...it is the tenants responsibility regardless of the circumstances. This company should be out of business!! They do not know how to communicate respectfully or conduct business in a professional manner.
